Where I last left off I was waiting for a replacement CV shaft from Autozone. Unfortunately it didn’t arrive until Monday so I wasn’t able to make any progress on Sunday evening. Got home and threw the new axle in only to still have the vibration problem. I will admit is was definitely better with the new axle so at least I got that taken care of.

At this point I was pretty stumped and frustrated, all I’ve wanted to do was cruise the car and I really thought this would fix it. Went over the list of moving parts in the rear end in my head probably a hundred times and the only thing I can possible think it would be was the driveshaft. I checked the other axle as well as the diff and ruled those out so it was time to drop the driveshaft. Upon further inspection of the part I noticed that it was missing one of the large bolts that hold the input shaft onto the rest of the driveshaft. Went to Home Depot after work Tuesday and got a M12 x 1.25 70mm bolt to replace the missing one and raced home. Put the bolt in the driveshaft, although it was maybe a few mm longer than the original ones it fit. Reinstalled the driveshaft and prayed that that would take care of it. Took the car down the road and thankfully the mystery vibration was gone!

Got back into the garage after the test drive and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. One thing I noticed while driving was that my temperature gauge on the dash wasn’t moving at all. A quick fix for me was to install my Yashio Factory Okachan water temp meter I picked up off the auctions.

I had originally tried to plug it in to the factory consult port located in the driver kick panel next to the fuse box, however it would only display .1 and no buttons would work. What I didn’t realize is that with the wiring specialties pro harness it relocates the connector to come off of the ECU plug. Re routed the wire to the passenger side and plugged it in and it works flawlessly! Now I’ll be comfortable to take the car on any sort of decent drive out of my neighborhood. Fast forward to this morning and I drove the car to work for the first time. Drive went well only thing I noticed that I’m not too keen on is a steering wheel vibration above 50 mph. Got to work and was able to use one of the open bays to get the car ready for state inspection. Installed the JDM blinkers as well as wired up the passenger side headlight plug I got.

On the way over to my dads house for dinner I stopped off and took a couple pics by the power lines.

Overall I’m super happy with how the car drives and I still kinda can’t believe I was able to get everything all set before the snow came. My current plan is to enjoy the car as much as I can until they salt the roads around here. I have a trip up to NH this coming Saturday to watch and take media for a private drift event so I might take the 240 up if the rest of this week goes well. As always thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my random updates. It means the world to me that you read this far!
